Wildflower Meadow Seed Mix

Our wildflower meadow seed mix is a wild harvested premium mix.
We harvest from several sites across the Welsh Marches area.

This mix is normally sown into bare soil at a rate of 4g/m2 or 40kg/Ha (16kg/acre). This is reduced to 1g/m2  or 10kg/Ha (4kg/acre) for enhancing existing grassland. Please see How to Create a Wildflower Meadow  for information on sowing and maintenance. 2011 seed should be sown by June 2012. For best results sow in autumn 2011.

Mix includes fine meadow grasses and flowers (% approx 70:30)
Species present: Meadow buttercup, Ox-eye daisy, Red clover, Common knapweed, Yellow Rattle, Birdsfoot trefoil, Ribwort plantain, Common hawkbit, Common sorrel, Eyebright, Sweet vernal grass, Crested dogstail , Common bent and several other grass and flower species. The variety and proportions of seed will depend upon the meadow of origin and cannot be specified as this is a direct-harvested product.

In the UK 98% of wildflower meadows have been lost since 1930. Sowing a new meadow or restoring existing grassland will attract more wildlife and benefit bees and butterflies. Gardeners can sow a patch in the garden and landowners working under a stewardship scheme may be sowing an entire pasture, enhancing an existing grassland or sowing arable field margins or beetle banks.

Guaranteed UK native seed only, harvested according to DEFRA and Flora Locale protocols
