Giant Bellflower is a tall bellflower with big blue trumpet flowers. It can form tall clumps when the conditions suit such as the back of a shady border or woodland. Choose a lightly shaded spot with moist soil if possible, although they will grow in dry shade, and also in full sun if the soil is damp. The lilac- azure pale blue bell shaped flowers are loved by pollinating insects, and the flowering period can extend for several weeks.
Other features:
The lower flowers open first, whereas the flowers on Nettle leaved bellflowers open first from the top of the stem.
Wildlife attracted:
A favourite with bees and ideal in a wildlife garden.
The Giant bellflower may also be included in the woodland and shade plug plant collection
