Lesser stitchwort has white star like flowers, which are smaller and more delicate than the flowers of Greater stitchwort. It is found growing in hedgerows, roadside verges or the woodland edge in addition to open areas of grassland. The delicate flowers are only just 1cm across compared to Greater stitchwort whose flowers can be 2-3cm across. It has a long flowering time lasting from May through to August or September.
