Stinking iris

Stinking iris doesn’t exactly stink as it’s name suggests! It just has a slightly meaty smell when you crush the leaves. It’s a lovely plant for a shady spot and in early summer the flower is a delicate pale lilac. It is ideal to mix with  woodruff and bellflowers for a shady woodland border, or woodland wildlife habitat.
