Black medick is a sprawling little meadow flower which has abundant yellow flowers. It has the advantage of a long flowering time from May through to October, and attracts many pollinating insects. It does prefer alkaline soil and may be found on roadside verges, and short grassland.

Other features:
In early Autumn from late August on wards the little plant has small black kidney shaped seeds. It is very common in Leicestershire and Rutland.

Wildlife attracted:
It is a nectar plant for many butterflies such as the Common Blue, Brown Argus, Gatekeeper and Meadow Brown. It will also attract moths and bees.
