Description
Common knapweed is a slightly smaller and simpler version than Greater knapweed, but the flowers are equally vibrant. It is perfect when planted in groups, with other British native meadow or grassland wildflowers, attracting plenty of wildlife to any garden space. It loves a sunny spot, and dry soil is not a problem. It will even grow well in a container, where it will flower for some time over the summer months.
Wildlife attracted:
The purple flowers of Common knapweed are a favourite with the bees and butterflies. Some butterflies such as the Marbled white will especially seek out the purple blooms
Other features:
It is a low maintenance plant, easy to grow in the border, container or garden meadow.
