Description
Marsh marigold is a lovely plant for the pond edge and wet ground including wet woodland, and damp meadows. It is relatively easy to grow as it spreads readily to form clumps which can be divided later in the Autumn. The flowers are at their best in April when the golden yellow blooms are a spectacular sight, attracting butterflies and bees on a warm Spring day.
Wildlife attracted:
The large leaves are ideal for wildlife, offering pond side shelter for insects, and frogs. The large flowers are also an early source of nectar.
Other features:
The flowers are often called Kingcups due to their goblet shape.
