We grow our Red campion in the environment of our shade tunnel and the first flowers of the season are now starting to bloom.
We find the dappled shade provided in the tunnel suits Red campion perfectly as in nature it is often found growing in hedgerows, field margins and roadside verges.
It is such a versatile wildflower and is great in a garden where it will add a splash of colour to so many locations from cottage gardens to wild grassland.
It can flower all through the summer into early autumn, attracting insects along the way - what’s not to love 💕

The Honesty is just starting to burst into flower

The Honesty is just starting to burst into flower where it is protected from the wind and heavy rain. Often found in the hedgerow, verges and gardens too, it is a favourite for many as it gives a fragrant blast of vibrant colour. The translucent seed heads in the autumn are an attractive addition to the garden through winter or often used for flower arrangements. So great to grow through the seasons.
It is not strictly native as it was originally introduced from southern Europe & this species of Honesty is usually biennial so will flower in the second year.
A lovely plant with year round interest that is ideal for a container, cottage garden or flower bed in sun or part shade.

It’s always exciting when our wildflower seeds start to germinate, & you know that Spring is underway. 😅
All our polytunnels are unheated with no additional light sources, to allow the seeds to germinate in their own time.
When large enough our seedlings are pricked out into plug trays as individual plants, to then grow on into our larger pots.

Greater stitchwort is just starting to flower in sheltered locations such as a hedgerow. The flowers look very pretty dotted along the roadside!
Our plants in the shade tunnel have a little protection from the elements but they are quite happy with the rain.
This is a wildflower that grows best in part shade and slightly damp conditions.
It’s great for ground cover on a woodland edge, or hedgerow and once established needs very little maintenance.
